Just got back.
In case you didnt know, I have loved most horror remakes and am all for them. Im not a remake hater. I like a lot of movies people hate. I loved the first RZ Halloween and saw it opening night even. I couldnt wait for this one either.
Well, first scene finishes, 4 people leave the theatre…
2nd scene finishes, 2 more leave.
3rd scene, 1 person leaves.
throughout the movie, my friend and I counted a total of 15 people that just got up and left midway through.
4 stayed.
Of all the many movies I have ever seen in the theatre, this was a first for me to see that many leave. It was back, to back, to back. Almost funny.
I wanted to leave too, but Im loyal to the series and Myers. By the end, I couldnt believe they made a movie wose than Resurrection with Busta Rhymes.
Shoulda saw Final Destination
Yeah, I know, lots of people have no taste out there.
“Yeah, I know, lots of people have no taste out there.”
Remember, you yourself were saying how awful “H2” was just four days ago. Maybe these people with “no taste” need multiple viewings to finally “see the light”.
I can admit, I despised it on first watch. It was only when I saw it again, that I started loving.
no body left the theatre when i seen it. no body booing or throwing cups. leaving i heard comments like “that was intense” and a girl said “that was so scary” but i didnt hear anyone say “that sucked”. i dont know maybe its just majority of the california movie goers that dont care for it, i believe thats the only geographic location where ive heard reports of people walking out on the film any rz protestor from another state feel free to make yourself known.
I posted some of my reason’s for disliking the movie in this thread: https://forum.michael-myers.net/t/had-to-walk-out-of-theater-disgusted-with-rz-h2/29162/1 but I might as well copy and paste them in my own as well…
Too many things that made Myers great for all these years were changed drastically. He didnt even tilt his head in this one. He had some sort of giant Rambo knife instead of the kitchen knife, and his grunting was ridiculous, I hated that most. Myers doesnt make noise!
It’s selfish enough to put his own wife in every movie, but to give her such a big role is crossing the line. She was in it more than Myers was. Every sequence with her, the horse and little Michael got so tedious.
Every kill was nearly the exact same: body on ground and constant stabbing downwards. There were others, but way too many of the same kill.
The editing came way out of left field, something the first RZ didn’t have, which is why it was a lot like Devil’s Rejects as previously mentioned. It wasnt as if the whole movie was like that, it only happened in a few scenes so it did not match at all.
Then Annie’s death scene was all screwed up from beginning to end. They did a stupid slo-mo on her running away, then cut away. Then when she’s officially dead, the movie tried to give you a nice somber “cry for her” scene with the audio muted and music that would fit a movie like Gladiator when the main hero dies. That also came out of left field and did not fit in the movie.
The list goes on. I rarely ever take apart a horror like this. Prom Night (awful) and The Hills Have Eyes 2 (awful) were the two most recent that I couldnt stand and this fits right in there.
I went with a buddie of mine who is good friends with RZ and goes on tour with his son’s music group and he told me he was going to have a few words with him after he saw this.
Cmon, 15 people left my theatre. That’s more than the most I ever saw leave which was a group of 5 leave Ang Lee’s Hulk.
I remember hearing him making noise quite a few times in JOHN CARPENTER’S HALLOWEEN. So to say he doesn’t make noise at all is kind of saying Carpenter did it wrong, too.
Hey, I liked the new blade now that I think about it. It fitted better with the hobo look than the butcher knife.
True, and I actually kind of like the Nick Castle grunts. But, like most other things Zombie, I think what certain people (myself included) object to is the OVERKILL (yes, pun intended!) of the grunts. There were SO many scenes in “H2” where Zombie decided to have Myers grunt with EVERY stab…and after a while and tons of repetitions, it bordered on comical to some.
The grunts only really worked for me during the nurse scene. The Betsy Rue scene looked beautiful and was tremendously well shot, but the grunts kind of took away some of the impact of the sheer brutality of it. Since it was seen from a certain distance too, silence would have worked better.
H1 & H2 Myer’s noises were more heavy breathing, not “RAGGH!!” like Hulk smashing!
MYERS…STAAAAAAAABBBBBBB!!!
Yeah, I know, lots of people have no taste out there.
How does that mean that they have no taste? Couldn’t I say the same to people that actually liked the film?

theres only one scene in the original where he tilts his head (after he stabs bob) and from there that element has been WAY over exagerated. i never cared for the “head tilting” anyway and that later became more of a Jason vorhees trade mark.
the head tilt in no way adds scariness to the film. it looks more like hes trying to get a crick out of his neck. so for me thats one element i can do without.
One thing to consider is that some people just cant handle a gory movie. Some people just aren’t into that kind of movie. Not saying anything against any of your opinions but I have yet to see someone bring this up as a legitimate reason for people leaving. My girlfriend like the movie but couldn’t stand the gory scenes. She just wouldn’t watch when it would get gory. She is a fan of the other halloweens including robs remake.

you are indeed right. ive thought this but yet to point it out to the few who been going on and on about people walking out of their theatre but im sure 99% of the people who walked out didnt just walk out because they flat out dislike the movie, it was probably too much for them to stomach. especially after eating dinner then going to see it. you should post this staement as a whole new thread so more people will read it.

That may be why a FEW people left…but it’s not why my wife, two friends in Indiana, and one friend here left the theater. It’s also not the reason DarklyScanner and myself STRONGLY considered walking out the first time we saw the movie.
I saw the film on a Sunday afternoon in NYC…the theatre was PACKED.
NOONE left the film…BUT several females that I could hear were very upset at times. My wife who likes horrors and loves RZ said the stabbings were too realistic and brutal (the nurse really upset her) and I had a couple with us as well and Kristin was disturbed by the violence. I kept hearing the girl behind me keep saying “oh my god”.
On the way out all I heard was “that was cool”; “holy shit” and the like. Thats just my experience and several friends I have in the NY/NJ area said the same. Crowded theatres where the people were silent…noone leaving.

Watch it again. Look for when he’s choking Laurie. He grunts.

that was pretty much my experience at the theatre. i think for those who seen people leave their local theatre assumed that this might be a nation wide epidemic.
however ive heard only a few reports of this happening and all from members on the board. everyone i know seemed to like well enough to finish the film.
