Perfect! That’s the one  Glad to know I was right on the date too. Let me know if you’re able to get anything from it on WBM :crossed_fingers:t4:.

That was taken around 2002

Okay, THIS seems to be the original.

Wayback has only a capture for when it was removed sadly.

That’s hilarious. Hey, that’s still something! I was surprised there would be anything archived. But to still see the actual listing and its description (even if it was already marked as sold/removed) is still something.

I find it funny because he raves on about how this mask was from the same mould as the hero. That was actually confirmed in 2017/18 with the hero photos as I mentioned before. Still not worth a million though!

Some more photos of the MDK.

That cant be MDK lol. why has it been partially converted? That really really does look like it though…

Yep. It was originally converted and then later restored. If you look at the later photos of the MDK, you’ll actually see the circle around the eyes from where it was restored. The TikTok video is a good place to look. It is very apparent in that video.

That also makes it even more outrageous that he was asking for a million dollars for a converted and restored Kirk, not even in original condition.

The MDK, is the same partially converted kirk, the eyecuts are still visible on the mask

REALLY??? That is insane, I had no clue! What was it restored with? Did the guy keep the eyes, sideburns, and eyebrows LOL

Damn, yeah, the sloppy glue job!

In my eyes, Chan’s converted Kirk (MDK) is the best and closest conversion I’ve ever seen. Not only does the mask itself match every marking to the hero and can be said with great accuracy that they would have been part of the same batch, but the conversion itself was actually pretty decent. Those photos really do capture The Shape like you’ve never seen elsewhere. Restoration work wasn’t bad either.

Is this set of photos from 2002 when Chan owned it?

Follow-up, I feel like I ought to know who this Chan was LOL.

I think the most incredible part is this photo showing that yes, the mask was actually flexible at some point in the late 90s to 2000s.

Proof that there hasn’t truly been a replica to match the film! I have yet to see a Kirk that looks intimidating in itself.

I’m not too sure about the date for this one, I think so! Best to confirm with Kenny.

Chan was the original owner. You’ve seen the famous VHS video of this mask, right? It was recently removed from YouTube. I’m waiting until someone posts it again. But it’s a well-known VHS that Chan recorded of him wearing this mask and getting some amazing shots. It’s definitely by far the closest mask we’ve had in this hobby to the hero.

I have not seen such VHS though I really want to. I didn’t know it was on YouTube at some point. Has anyone downloaded it?

And yeah it’s the closest mask to the hero because it’s truly a brother to The Shape!

Considering this is NAG’s attempt at a ‘perfect 1975 Kirk’ I don’t have much trust in the MDK-accurate sculpt he’s mentioned doing. It could be great, it could be… really trash.

The only screenshots I have of the VHS. The video is gone though. Someone in the community must have it.

Shame he couldn’t get a hi-def camcorder LOL. Still, that’d be amazing to see at some point. I hope someone comes forward with it.
