Does anyone have real pics or own a David Miller hockey mask?

There’s 2 surviving masks made at the exact same time as the part 3 hero. The part 4 hero and the mystery mask. The part 4 hero was used to film a few scenes in part 3. BOTH of those masks were painted inside and out. So you’re going to tell me that they painted 2 out of the 3 masks on both sides but only painted the part 3 hero on the inside? LMFAOOO

being skeptical is one thing. Being oblivious to what you’re being told is another.

While we’re posting comparisons, here’s one from years ago… in this thread.

The holes actually match up very well, but again, the form is just…

Auz…The part 4 hero was first a part 3 stunt…correct me if I’m off

That’s correct!

Yep, that mask alone proves the part 3 hero was also painted inside and out. Hell, you can look at pictures of the part 3 hero and tell it was painted inside and out but I guess that’s beside the point lol.

The JDF 3/4 blank is a decendant of the part 3 mask? Why is it small and not more elongated as the part 3? again I’m still a newb to all this.

I think Jeff’s blanks come from either part 6 or 7. I lean towards part 7 because the size matches the part 7’s size and scale very well.

Even though the part 6 mask is bigger, I’ve always thought that the part 7 mask came from a shrunken part 6 buck.

Part 6 is the first time you really see the indentions on either side of the chin. They’re really exaggerated compared to the previous movies where you can barely see them. Jeff’s blanks also have the exaggerated chin indentions. His blanks look very similar to the part 6 masks but are a little smaller. So, just due to the size of his blanks I always lean towards 7.

I really wish I was able to get one of those late 80s production blanks that were floating around a long time ago.

The JDF is a reworked cast from the “88 production blanks” which are vac pulls taken from a mold of the Mystery Mask, but they are much smaller than the mystery mask itself. Either the buck shrunk, or the cast they had of the MM shrunk. No way to tell for sure. As far as where those “production blanks” come from, it’s hard to tell. Size matches the part 7 mask pretty well. I have a Part 7 movie mold cast coming as well as a JDF. I’ll take photos and comparisons of both and make another thread maybe. But Auz’s post lays out pretty well why most think the production blanks source from a buck or cast made for Part 7.

So who has the most accurate parts 3/4 mask blanks out there? I bought JDF’s part 3 but seem small. Fiberglass masks seem to have a pretty accurate shape imo. Fiberglass masks part 3 next to a cursed camp studios part 3

I’m going to go with crash. His shape and size is dead on. JDFs do run a little small but you can’t beat the lineage. Just overall the Crash takes it for me.

Thanks Shape…I was going to put in an order in with him soon!!

Yup! Excited to see what you get man

Well at this point I’m deciding on three. His part 4 shower scene, his part 5 grave scene or part 5 window scene. I even might order two of my selection!! :tonqe:

Also got to go with Crash. Here is my clean Part 3 from him and it next to my Escape Theory Studios Part 3:

yeah the crash looks on the money!

I would say Crash has the best part 3 buck as well. To get a perfect left eye cut though you have to sand away the upper outside corner a bit. He tends to compensate for the warp by cutting way to the outside to get that eye “expression” right as you can see above.

I used to have one of the 1988 (or whenever) blanks that came from Ken. Seems they were really just off of his buck, had all the same features, warps, dents and oddities.

90% sure Ken’s mold came from Reel FX and was a direct cast of the TV spot mask, like Nathan said–which was then enlarged again to make the part 6 movie masks. I have one of Bob’s part 6 masks that came off a movie mold mask and they are super close to a Frightstuff-- mostly just a bit wider.

A question for you, Jason- when you say the TV spot mold was enlarged to make the P6 masks, what are your findings on that? That’s something I never thought of. I always assumed that it was the opposite— P6 was a regular size mold of the TV spot/Mystery Mask and somehow shrinkage occurred and made the P7 Hocks the size they are, and that’s where these “production blanks” come off of?

If it came off the same buck as the other masks from part 3, the TV spot mask would have had roughly the proportions of a Crash blank–slightly larger all around and with larger and sharper overall features. Somehow, when it was recast (maybe by Gabe?), the material shrunk. The part 6 masks are not very large. They are very, very close to Frightstuff/JDF masks. I’ve seen Mario’s 6’s in person and asked him and another part 6 owner to do measurements for me, and they are exactly the same as Bob’s FGM blanks. Hang on lemme see if I can take some photos.

Very great info! Thank you and I look forward to any pics you take .

To clarify- you are saying you think the TV spot/Museum mask is from the same buck as P3/4, same size, but that when (maybe gabe) recast it the material shrunk somehow and that causes the size difference in the MM vs the 6? Interesting that they’re the same size as bobs blanks!

The part 6 movie masks measured 8.5 x 10 inches-- the JDF mask I have measures 8.2 x 9.9 or so. Some of that difference could owe to how I cut it as well. So exactly the same vertical, but somewhat narrower width. The nose is a tiny bit more bulbous too on the 6’s. Which is why I think the 88 Blanks/Frightstuff/JDF molds came off an intervening mold during their enlargement process.

Yes, the museum mask very likely came off the part 3 buck. For some reason the 1st gen recast shrunk about a half inch.

FGM 6 on left, JDF on right.
