Does anyone have real pics or own a David Miller hockey mask?

I wasn’t sure if we should make that photo public, but it couldn’t hurt. I did a photo overlay last night. I just don’t know how we’re talking about this in 2017. David’s masks are great, but there are blatantly obvious problems with it. It’s not even just the curve of the mask or the holes either. The basic anatomy is completely different. I couldn’t see a possible scenario that this derives from a movie mask we have knowledge of. My guess is that it’s an original sculpt.

Oh wow! That second picture is very nice. Here are a few collages I did. One showing the hero Part 3 vs a JDF Blank, the other showing the mystery mask and the JDF blank. The all share the lower jaw deformation as far as I can see.

We think Jeff recasted one of the “production blanks” to make his buck, and perhaps some retooling. This would make Jeff’s mold a second generation recast of the Mystery Mask, making it the closest you can buy on the market right now.

To answer your last post, the red and white blanks are the “88 Production Blanks” Ken entered with. He had stock in red, white, and black.

After seeing that picture, I can confirm that the GOHS Part 6’s were in fact cast off a production P6. I’ve seen the/a copy. Looks really nice all finished up!

Here’s a Gates of Hell Studios Part 6 mask. I’d imagine these were color matched pretty well, too.

Yeah that’s legit. FGM’s 6 mask comes from a mask that was off the GOHS mold as I understand it. I have one and it has all the same deformities as a frightstuff/JDF, which makes me think that the red/white pulls came off an intermediate mold created from the mystery mask before the enlargement for the final part 6 movie blanks.

I have one and it has all the same deformities as a frightstuff/JDF, which makes me think that the red/white pulls came off an intermediate mold created from the mystery mask before the enlargement for the final part 6 movie blanks.

So an original red/white pull would be a first gen cast of the mystery mask? Then those were enlarged to make the part 6 mask? The whole first/second gen thing confuses me a bit.

Of course, no way to know for sure just yet. I hope one day we have it all figured out. Everything about the costumes, masks, etc. I’m just very curious about this mystery mask. Was it a left over blank repurposed by the part 5 production team? Was it a half finished mask from the production of 3 that was never used? Was it the mask that David filled the split of, then recasted/Vac pulled to make the part 5 mask? David said he had the part 4 hero to mold though, so idk. That makes sense since it WAS used for a few scenes.

Entirely possible!

That would certainly explain a few things. When I try to overlay the photos of the Mystery mask during the TV spot over the hero from the Part 4 opening, there are a few small, but noticeable differences. I wonder if they would match better over a photo of the stunt…

Anyone ever notice the mouth holes on Miller’s HUGE mask he made for the title screen are sweeping right, just like in his DMC hocks? Not sure what to make of this, just always found it curious.

You know it’s funny you post this because about a week ago when I was watching part 5 I noticed how the title screen Mask is very similar in shape, hole placement, etc to the ones DMC offers.

Check this out guys! I found a Part 5 poster from what appears to be Japan and not only does it show the true color of the coveralls, but TONS of detail on the mask! Hole placements, deformations, etc! Awesome find. Has anyone else seen this before?

That’s another thing about David’s “from the film mold” mask. It doesn’t have the deformation on the chin like in the above picture, or on the 88 production blanks. Odd!
