Anyone worried about Halloween Ends? They’ve already said its gonna skip ahead to 2022, so Michael attacked 4 years ago in Ends. Not sure how’ll they’ll explain that. Did Michael take a 3 year nap? Forget to mark his calendar?
Also, they’ve already mentioned it is gonna be political and talk about COVID. I’ve had enough of COVID, we can’t even get away from it in a fictional universe. I feel like this could easily break the film.
I think Michael goes into “hiding” to recuperate from all of the burns, stabs, bullet wounds and blunt force trauma to his body. He might have been taken into custody and put back into a maximum security mental institution. COVID directorate forcing the intake or release of inmates allows Michael to escape.[emoji2371] either way, I’m not necessarily a fan of a political issue(s) premeditatedly working its way into the plot of a Halloween movie.
BUUUUUT after I digested what I just posted, a political issue that DOES have relevance in this is mental health and the care that the mentally ill receive. That would be directly relevant to the story. Perhaps Michael gets put on trial for murder and is sentenced to death and he escapes at the eleventh hour.
I don’t think the negative reviews have so much to do with being dissatisfied with the plot, only with its lack of execution and poor/cheesy dialogue. I don’t know how any writer could read it and think “this is fine”.
My issue is the way the editing is done by putting 2 scenes together, also hearing “Evil dies tonight” so many times, it’s not great, and being reminded “It’s been 40 years” we know that
not that there is anything wrong with it but, I think you were abit high when you watched it my man.
they didnt kill Michael in the street from the beat down. but now him stabbing Karen a few minutes after that, might turn out to be something Karen imagined. but they didnt kill Michael in the street bro
i havnt heard that yet but it sounds like a stupid fukn idea. hopefully they dont go with that direction. hate to see them ruin what they half ass got right with the ‘kills’ installment.
I love this movie. The only thing I didn’t like was the mob in the hospital and the overuse of certain phrases. Nobody talks or acts like that. I can’t wait to see where this goes in Ends.
My hot take: I enjoyed it, but it feels like the second movie of a trilogy for sure. There were some things I didn’t like, but much of it I liked. I feel like the shape is a scary character again, the flashback scenes were wonderful, and for the first time since 1981 the costuming and set designs were perfect, especially for those parts. But I feel they brought back too many original characters just for the sake of them being there without making sensible use of them. I would have been fine with Tommy, Lonnie and that’s it. Did we really need Marion or Bracket or Lindsay? Not in my opinion. Lastly, I still feel like they never should have ignored H2 in this new storyline. My two cents is this: if he could have escaped the fire in 2018, he could have escaped the hospital fire in 1981. They didn’t have to ignore H2. They should have left original H2 events as part of this story, and made the both the 2018 and 2021 films to fill in blanks of what happened in 1978 and incorporate bits of Lauries modern family dynamic. But I didn’t hate the movie at all, or either of these movies. Still vastly superior to several others in the franchise
I feel like the only one who liked the dialogue in Kills. I see people putting it down (like ANY line delivered by the teenagers in '78 was better) but it worked with me. Yeah the ‘evil dies tonight’ stuff is a bit much but… that’s kind of how a mob moves. Look at any of the ‘Lives Matter’ marches and protests in recent years. Sure, the mob is exaggerated for the movie, but it’s really not a far cry from reality.
If they don’t ignore Halloween II, they HAVE to go the brother/sister route again which is exactly what this new series is trying to avoid. Laurie and Michael aren’t related, they don’t share a special connection (seemingly) and Michael didn’t come looking for Laurie, she came looking for him.
I’m happy that Halloween II was given a little rub by the incorporation of the Brackett flashback, when he sees Annie on the gurney. That footage works well within their story, and it was just incredible seeing Halloween II footage on the big screen as I adore that movie, warts and all.
Judging by the end of Kills, there’s going to be some kind of showdown between the Shape and Laurie. I hope that’s the case. My concern from JLC statement is that the Shape may not be in the movie very much and it might be more about “the ongoing inner psychological struggle of the women warriors” or something boring like that.
Some people were even suggesting that the Shape is dead after the mob attack and the end where Karen is being killed, is imagined. I think people are reading too much into that. I think he really did kill Karen and that Laurie and Alyson will be heading into some kind of final fight with the Shape. At least that’s what I’m hoping for.
