***Halloween Kills & Halloween Ends Discussion***

But I definitely think Courtney is the best Myers since Castle, by a long shot

I agree 100% :myers:

My Halloween Kills review:

My favorite part of the film were the flashback scenes from 1978. They did an excellent job with Dr. Loomis. I only wish we could have seen more of him. He should have screamed, “I shot him six times!, I shot him six times!” before he appeared and asked if the shape had killed again.

The flashback scenes seemed to move a little faster than they read in the script. This was probably because there were scenes in the script that were left out of the film. The scene in the script that described Michael’s unmasking revealing an “angelic” should have been in the film. Hopefully we will see this in the extended cut.

All of the main characters in the film were great, especialy the shape. The criticism with the characters were with the legacy characters like Lindsey and Brackett for example. They seemed to be not much more than cameos. I would have liked to have learned more about their lives, and what they have been doing over the last forty years. They simply did not have enough lines in this film. They should have been part of much longer conversations.

Even though this film seemed to have an odd documentory style to it, the story and the content were great.

The only thing I did not like at all was the ending. It was too abrupt and incomplete. I was expecting to leave the theater knowing where Michael Myers was going to be for the next two to four years.

This means that the beginning of Halloween Ends, presumably before the opening credit sequence, will have to pick up right where KILLS left off to set up the time jump.

Now my criticism of the trilogy as a whole so far is that these are slasher films that just so happen to take place on Halloween. There is no connection with Halloween itself, or the mythology of Halloween to the motives and actions of Michael Myers.

Think about it. There were 364 other days in 1963 that Michael could have killed his sister Judith. So why Halloween?

Since it had been confirmed in KILLS that Michael Myers is indeed supernatural, this supernatural element could be the segway that makes this connection. This has been done in previous films with the SAMHAIN reference in part 2, and the Thorn trilogy. And don’t forget about the prologue from the Curtis Richards novel.

If this connection is going to be established in ENDS, it had to be done in a way that won’t upset the hardcore fans who want Michael’s motives to remain a mystery.

I believe this film made Myers scarier again, although I wish they stuck to the “theater of the mind” theme rather than brutal bloody killings which made some people I know not want to watch it again (mostly females that were big fans of the original)

But in keeping with the title it definitely delivers so it’s a toss up.

I’m curious about the direction Ends will take. Could be a chance to go back to that eerieness of the original with less blood/gore.

But haven said all that I still enjoy it more than 2018’s Halloween.

I didn’t see anything new in this movie that suggests Michael is supernatural… he’s just got a good pain threshold!

I liked Halloween Kills. It’s a great sequel to the 2018 movie which I didn’t care for.

David Green said he, and I’m paraphrasing, believes Myers can do extraordinary things but not impossible things and that for as long as he’s tied into the series, Myers is human and not supernatural.

There is a great clip up on YouTube from the press junket interviewing him.

This is true, but I do not think that David Gordon Green has final cut as it pertains to the character of Michael Myers. I believe Malek Akkad has the final say on the final disposition of Michael Myers.

He burns to a crisp at the end of h2. Also the brother/sister storyline really messed up the idea. He’s the boogeyman.

The movies happen on halloween because that’s the name of the movie. There won’t be any explanation to it and there doesn’t need to be.

So watching it again today, I counted 12 jack-o-lanterns in the intro credits. Do you think each represents a film in the franchise up to this point? Since this is the 12th?

Good catch, that’s defintely what it might represent

I saw that too. Pretty much in line with what H2 did with Myers. He’s “almost” unstoppable.

Can anyone tell me why bodies are on full nude display in a random room in HMH instead of in the morgue?

Lol thought same thing. Maybe because of all the chaos ensuing?

The 1978 flashback scenes were worth the price of admission.

Just checked it out last night. Enjoyed it for the most part. Was great seeing the characters from the original and Loomis blew my mind. Thought he was digital until I looked it up. I was really hoping for Sheriff Brackett to get more screen time. Still a bit torn on the ending, as I prefer creepy, stalker Myers over invincible killing machine Myers. All in all, I’m happy with it and looking forward to the finale. The 78 throwback scenes were sick and really took me back to the original. The mask looked so good. Can’t wait for the next one. I’ve enjoyed these last 2 movies much more than the past several sequels/RZ films.

Does anyone have a clear picture of the un burnt side hero HK mask? I have a pretty good reference picture of the burnt side but I don’t have a good picture for the un burnt side.
