***Halloween Kills & Halloween Ends Discussion***

The way around the death count couldve been that they never found the bodies and therefore could not be tied to michael myers…this is actually the case with a lot of real serial killers, If they have them in the chair, Theyll settle for that if they cant get the guy to admit or to show them where the other bodies are…one guy said he couldnt even remember because he killed over 40 people…So

I agree with you guys in all seriousness and movie fairness…they definitely painted themselves in a corner…No clue why they had to do that…

I totally get that, but in Haddonfield, a small town, all killings/murders on Halloween night 1978 would be tied to Myers.

for sure and im not saying avoid them…i guess too late but the remake would be the original source material just with young hawkins story added so its not a full on re do

This idea could work, it’ll be like Ed Gein’s sort of killing where nobody knows what’s going on, if this did happen, I would not want to see anything else happen

I recall the primary concern was the set dressing of the Myers house. Zombie did the same thing that Carpenter did with the original Myers house, and took a foreclosed home and grunged it up a bit. Zombie filmed the movie in the middle of a housing crisis, and said “grunging” made the locals concerned about how realtors and prospective home buyers may see it, and make house values go down. Like Carpenter, Zombie made sure to clean everything up when he was done, but then they had to do it again during post-principal reshoots, which was just kinda additional salt in the wound for the neighbors.

Well, it looks like this… The grass is a little browned from the summer, the trees are either turning, or turned, the shadows are long and low from the sun beginning to streak across the sky lower.

(sorry, HAD to through that last one in there! :stuck_out_tongue: )

Not so much like this:

As SpaceMage pointed out above, H4 perhaps replicates this the best without actually going to Illinois, and honestly H6 doesn’t do a bad job either, both in spite of the Rocky Mountains being in the background at points. Sorry, Pasadena, but as far as the Halloween aesthetic goes, Salt Lake City’s got ya beat:

I will say this, however, that Rob Zombie did NOT do a bad job at all working with the same locations that Carpenter did. I think the fact that he shot a lot of it in the morning or evening to replicate the long shadows, and used a warm filter to brown out the greenery of South Pasadena (which is something Zombie talks about in the aforementioned documentary) helped a lot with creating a more authentic look. Then again, Zombie may not be able to write a script worth a damn, but his visuals are always top notch.

something else i am wondering about…we know it will 90% chance be the same mask more beat, BUT what about the coveralls? he didnt really need the same eaxct pair so does he keep the same ones, have new ones? dreadfully wear something else?

Just rewatched some of the flashback scenes in H Kills, what’s wrong with this picture? A hint, it involves the Station Wagon

Wow, some of those pics look amazing. Like the corn field and train tracks… I would love to see a Halloween movie with locations like that.

As for Pasadena’s greenery, that’s something I actually really like about the original. I never bought it being Illinois, and I never really thought about it much beyond an occassional “no way that’s Illinois”. But just what we see on screen I really really like. I love going to South Pasadena every time I’m in LA and just driving around and walking the streets. That’s something I would love to see more of one day in a Halloween movie. And not filtered all to hell. I want to see the authentic colorful Pasadena as it is is real life. I’m happy to suspense my disbelief for that.

It’s hard to explain why but there’s just something about the H’18/HK filming locations that I hate. A lot of it has to do with the movies themselves being so bland and completely lacking any sort of atmosphere, but I think the main bit stems from them pretending to be all about the original yet totally disregarding the filming locations. Honestly, if it came down to filming in South Pasadena vs Getting Jamie Lee Curtis back, I would have picked Pasadena.

I think what works about the Halloween movies is how Main Street, USA they feel. They feel like they could be set in any midwestern town in the nation, which in the end was somewhat the point. When the Shape escapes back at the end of the first movie, and his breathing is heard over the neighborhood, you’re meant to leave the theater with a prickle on the back of your neck. The Shape could be hiding behind YOUR garbage cans when you get home. Part of that stems from the idea of Halloween not originating as a Halloween movie, but as a more generic slasher movie. But I think centering the movie around Halloween gave it a more lasting impact.

The 1970s and '80s created a time in horror cinema I doubt we’ll ever see again in a full movie. The quality of the film stock, the low contrast, high grain, low resolution, blue set lighting, etc all contributed to create the aesthetic we attribute to the atmosphere of the earlier Halloween movies. Heck, you see it all but disappear from H20 and H: Res simply because taste in film aesthetic changed. Producers these days want it to look “modern” and “now.” You can see it’s deliberate because the flashback sequence in Kills replicates that 80s aesthetic perfectly. They CAN do it, but they just won’t. Don’t know why, but they won’t. Heck, half my attraction to those old 80s slasher flicks is the aesthetic!

Big reason why, is cause of the studios, they don’t want to replicate a time period without it ending up like the 84 flashback in Terminator Genisys

That alleyway scene just screams H2 (81)

I am blown away by that Myers house pic form rural Illinois. Put that home owner under a movie contract ASAP!

It’s too late, filming has long since wrapped up

Nick Castles cameo from Kills is in this video

I really hope this movie wraps up the whole new trilogy and is not as bad as I fear it to be well I guess leaks will happen soon and we will know how it goes down with the public

Oh the only thing that will get better, is The Shape, all the others won’t, cause they want to focus on “The Message”

This is so bad it comes across like a commercial that’s mocking the movies more than an actual movie itself.

I agree, it’s just “content” that you put on as background noise

Oh, well. Next reboot then!

That won’t take long
