***Halloween Kills & Halloween Ends Discussion***

I believe your right about ends not starting until next year. I vaguely remember reading that somewhere recently…

Ah, I had heard they were filming the two back to back.

Edit

She’s posted about filming on it on her Instagram, I believe.

Indeed she did, my post above was written before she began filming :joy::joy:

If I’m correct this is how the new Halloween saga goes: Why didn’t they give H40 a subtitle?
Halloween (1978)
Halloween (2018)
Halloween Kills (2020)
Halloween Ends (2021)

Because it was the smartest decision to make, marketing wise

Michael is no more human in H’18 than he was in '78. He had his mask off at one point as a child, and even takes his mask off at the climax, so that complaint, I truly do not get.

And yeah, retitling it ‘HALLOWEEN’ was very smart. It’s simple. By subtitling it, it suggests to the audience that you need to have previous history with the franchise, which you don’t.

I do think “Halloween: Returns” would’ve ultimately been a better move in the long run.

Just noticed while watching the original Halloween that just before Annie is killed she tells Laurie she’ll call her in about an hour, then she’s killed, then Loomis scares Lonnie who runs off, then when Linda tells Laurie on the phone that Annie still isn’t back Laurie looks puzzled. That means more than an hour elapsed in the time between these events which means he had plenty of time to run into Lonnie during this time.

I wonder what the flashback mask is going to look like. One guy on YT kept insisting that it was going to be a Kirk mask based on the photos they released with the actor (or stuntman) wearing a white mask. But it’s from a distance so you can’t really see all the features.

I don’t see how they will still use Shatner’s likeness though. I’m guessing it will be a cleaner version of the 2018, maybe the ones they already made that had “78” written below them but didn’t use in 2018 due to the scenes being scrapped.

theyve been free to use kirk/shatner’s likeness for years…If they want the original mask they can sculpt it…that is been done and over with! The 2018 clean is not being used Nelson has stated. These artists that work on these films like to put their own stamp on these masks which I dont understand, If it is suppose to be the same mask as 78 then make it or try your best to…So sick of the artist’s putting their own spins on it, Interviews regarding the 2018 mask confirmed this. They wanted it to look ‘‘sadder’’… The interview also suggested they didn’t want to full on copy the old mask, Which is nutso…Now that it is a definite flashback I feel they have no choice, We want the original mask to be replicated…and just might get it

I could be wrong, but the reason why pretty much all of the masks from the sequels never resembled the original Kirk mask was because of legal issues with Don Post Studios over the use of their mask in the first film. Each mask maker in the movies could do an interpretation of the original mask but had to stray from it to prevent any lawsuits. I suppose that was a good thing for the mask makers who were then able to put their own spin on the look. I suppose now that TOTS has the official licence to recreate the original mask that the movies now can use it.

I wonder how much of the movie will be made up of 1978 flashback scenes. I’m also curious if they’re going to show the exterior and interior of the Doyle and Wallace houses during these scenes. If so, are they going to completely rebuild those houses? If that’s the case, then that honestly sounds really inconvenient. It would be a lot easier if they just went to the original neighborhood in South Pasadena, California and used the real houses. I’ve seen recent pictures and aside from a few minor altercations, the exteriors look almost exactly like how they did in 1978.

Doesn’t the Wallace house have a big extension to the side?

If they filmed on Orange Grove, there would have been press coverage already.

Yes, the Wallace house has been completely remodeled and painted green. The Doyle front yard is now covered in shrubbery. Additionally, the interiors of those houses were not used. (Actually, I think the Doyle house used the same interior/exterior, but we know the interior of the Wallace house was not the same.) Not to mention Hollywood and Pasadena look nothing like North Carolina, which was one of my biggest grievances with the new movie. Old Haddonfield would stick out like a sore thumb in new Haddonfield. And the cost of filming on location in Hollywood would be too outrageous, which is why they chose North Carolina to begin with.

Yeah I doubt they filmed scenes on the east coast and west coast. Would be neat if the did but really after 40 years a lot probably doesn’t look the same anyways… can’t be too picky on that stuff IMO. After all it’s a movie

I am most curious about the flashbacks… how much time past from when he was shot then captured? We know he doesn’t murder anyone else, but how much could he have done? Kinda weird they are flashing back like this I hope it works, it must be a decent idea If John is on board with it.

I hope they do the hair right on the replica, with the horned edges and poofyness. I understand why the 2018 mask hair is matted down due to being in a bag stuffed in a evidence room.

They haven’t gotten the hair right since the first film. I realize the hair in the first film was just the way they happened to mess with it and from Nick handling it, but ever since then they haven’t even tried to get that look again. It’s one of my pet peeves with the series actually. Why can’t we get at least a decent attempt at the look of the hair?

I love H2 and the rough look of the mask, but they didn’t even attempt to make the hair resemble it’s look in part 1, and it’s supposed to be the same night. Closest it comes is his reflection in the car mirror. Still love the look in that film, but the hair just changed drastically from what it was. I do understand that it was probably much thinner and what not at that point due to it losing hair after time, but in the films that followed, there was no attempt at that original look of the hair.

Heck, in H4 there’s the scene with the dudes who are wearing Myers masks, and the one who is farthest away standing behind that bush by the house or whatever that was, the hair on his mask actually looked more correct! Why didn’t they go with that look? Would of been closer to the desired look than the slicked back look we got for the hero mask in that one.

H6 was probably the closest they came to that nice middle ground. A little spikey, but certainly not the punk rock Myers of H20.

The masks in RZs films were just wild and crazy hair that went a little too wild. So it goes from one extreme to the other. Either it’s combed back neatly or matted down, or it’s overly wild and crazy.

So I definitely agree with you, I hope they at least get it in the ballpark of what it should look like. That’s going to affect the flashback scene greatly for me. That look of the hair in H1 is part of his character.

Either that or I’m just too passionate about mask hair
