I do really hope to see it in a theatre but it’s just a waiting game as this virus has not gone away and even if cinemas open if they are empty as people are to afraid then the movie could be held back until next year
If it comes down to either holding off for another year or releasing it to VOD…just do VOD please. They can turn right around and release HE in theaters the following year (maybe even include HK for a double feature, 2 for the price of 1)
I’d be ok with that, but unfortunately I don’t think Blumhouse would. I think they’d just push it to Oct 2021. If that’s the case, I’d rather just see it on VOD.
But as long as HK keeps its October release date, we should be hearing news about the trailer in the next few weeks. First week of June is when they dropped the H18 trailer, so lets see.
This deserves to be seen with a crowd. The moment a blockbuster franchise like this goes to VOD, the future of the series is in jeopardy, pandemic or not. I worry that most people would just wait for Ends to see it on VOD them.
I don’t see why releasing one film VOD would mean all future releases would have to be VOD. Under the circumstances I think VOD is understandable IF it means getting it this year versus next. But I’m absolutely keeping my fingers crossed that October works out for a theatrical release.
Regardless of all that though, I hope when the BD/4K gets here they actually put some decent special features on it. The Special Features for H’18 weren’t very good. They had a “making of” that was like 5 minutes long. I want a comprehensive ‘making of’ and a comprehensive look at all the aspects of making the film, interviews with actors, crew, producers, composers, etc. Not just a bunch of fluff that you can finish in less than 25 minutes. I don’t even think H’18 had a commentary track.
It’s funny, because they recorded/shot so much BTS for H18. It’s very clear that Universal is waiting to double dip on both H18 and Kills if you ask me, when a special edition leaks.
Regarding VOD, no, i don’t think releasing this film would mean that all future releases would be VOD, that’d be ignorant to think considering we’re going through a pandemic. I just meant that I could see a lot of people waiting for Ends to finish it’s theatrical run and go to VOD to see it, if Kills has to undergo that fate.
Hm… I’d have to disagree somewhat, buddy! It all depends on the studio. I’d agree that Universal doesn’t do it THAT often but I believe The Invisible Man had a commentary, at least.
But plenty of other big film studios go all in on their special features.
What else did it have besides a commentary? And please give examples of other recent blu rays, because most of all of mine barely have anything other than a cpouple of cut or alternate scenes and the occasional commentrary, but thats rare. (major studio releases that is)
1917 had pretty extensive BTS, the Mission Impossible films recently, hell, even Universal’s First Man even had it’s own commentary. I don’t know, it just seemed very apparent to me that they were holding stuff back for H18 in order to entice people with the inevitable trilogy edition. I believe Ryan said he fought hard for a lot of stuff to be included, but Universal was barking back.
Blumhouse, JLC, David Gordon Green among others are hosting a H18 watch party on Twitter this Saturday, with post viewing commentary.
There is no way they would be doing this and NOT have some sort of announcement, teaser, poster or something to do with Halloween Kills. surely they wouldn’t just do something like this for no reason, right?
Why not? haha If anything it will be the same old ‘‘We cannot reveal much but we can tell you its going to be crazy’’…A poster? Possibly…I dont see the trailer being released after a watch party lol It’s not for no reason it’s entertainment sourced from the last movie and maybe some behind the scenes talk…Would’nt get your hopes up!
Just wanted to edit this and add that I do hope I am wrong!.. That’d be awesome man, Not disregarding anybodies opinion I just don’t see it
It’s also worth to note that Saturday is the 16th of May which is exactly 5 months before HK’s release date of 10/16. That’s just too much of a coincidence. I think they will at least announce a trailer date or something.
Maaaybe. Pre-COVID, I’d agree. But they’re not even 100% confident that it’ll make October in terms of theaters being open then. I’d love for them to announce something though, just to hold us over. With the entire team being involved, it surely seems like it’s more than just a watchalong, but checking the Universal site, seems they’ll be doing a watchalong for a movie every week until the end of June. So who knows! They’ll be bombarded with fans asking for the trailer, so surely they’ll mention it, right?? right???
So how does a watchalong work do we here from then cast before the showing then the movies played do they talk over the movie like a live commentary also do you pay to see it. I’ve brought so many copies already
I believe they’ll talk for a few mins prior to beginning the movie. Since the cast etc will be watching from their houses, everyone is supposed to start the movie at the same time, including yourself. Then they’ll be tweeting during the movie interacting with fans. When it’s over, they will chat for a short time. Should be funny to read the tweets when Sartain kills Hawkins and puts on the mask
