How bout this…I’ll start again with another question for you guys… For ENDS, Do you think Michael should dawn a clean mask or stick with the crispy one from Kills? I think I would like ENDs set a couple years later and in Kills his mask gets destroyed or ripped off somehow, That way hes not just ditching the mask for a new one lol
I guess the question is, how can he find and don a new mask, logically, where it will make sense. If we are to assume that this was a common mask for sale in the fictional 1978 Haddonfield, would this still be a popular mask 40 years later, especially since it was used in a killing spree? Not sure if the fictional public was made aware of the mask back in 1978. If so, the mask may have either skyrocketed in sales or plummeted. In comparison to reality, I don’t see a lot of John Wayne Gacy makeup sets. I’m probably thinking too much about this, but that’s where my brain goes.
No you are right! BUT there is merchandise from people like charles manson… I dont think it would be a huge stretch to still see a white mask in stores! People use ski masks for robberies…scream masks for robberies… even killings…and those will always be available…I think it could work if done right, Im starting to be sort of over the scarred look
Yeah I don’t think he will get a new mask, as much as I would like for him to. But, as rampageof78 said, in the real world the Ghostface mask is used in many crimes, wether it be robberies or murders, and it’s still as popular as ever. So yes, it’s 100 percent likely that they would still sell the mask in modern day within the film universe.
You are not wrong or off base at all with that man. There have been a few notable murders in small quiet towns where the Ghostface mask was involved, and it is still sold nationwide every year. It’s believable that maybe the town in the film wouldn’t stock that mask, but just the same it’s also believable that it would be on shelves every year.
If we are just talking about the original Halloween, that was one night and a few murders. I don’t think it would stop a mass produced Halloween mask from being on shelves.
And just for shits and giggles, they sold the mask at the hardware store in Halloween 4, and that includes the history of the murders in Halloween 2 as well. It didn’t stop them from selling it then, right? So for people trying to use that as a reason is just an excuse to justify why he won’t have a clean mask.
And your not alone, ever since the decrepit Rob Zombie Myers mask days I hoped for a return to a clean look. Don’t get me wrong, I actually like the Rob Zombie Myers mask in his first film, I’m just not a huge fan of that movie. I absolutely hate Rob Zombies Halloween 2, and I can’t stand the mask in that movie.
So to find out we were getting yet another rotted look for a mask was a bummer to me. I do like the mask, but it’s not my favorite. And now adding burns and whatever else just absolutely kills the Myers look to me. I’m sure it will still look like Myers, but I mean come on, that’s not Myers. We are crossing over into Jason Voorhees territory with the battle damaged mask effect here.
With that said, I am most excited for the flashback scenes, at least we will get a taste of a clean mask there. Even if it’s only for a few minutes.
yeah exactly my thoughts i was kinda bummed to find out another rotted look was coming…we were all pretty sure they WOULDNT do that cause we figured they would feel like they are somewhat copying RZ’s idea…I was actually stunned when i realized they actually were doing the rotted look…A crispy myers is a no go for me…Like you said its heading out of myers territory
Yeah, I hate the rotted look. I got sick of it quick in RZH. I outright hated it in RZH2. And it was a total gut punch finding out H’18 would have ANOTHER rotted mask. I’m sick of it. I want the clean white classic mask again. No more rotted look. Ever.
(Minor spoiler below)
It’s even more painful knowing a clean white mask is going to be featured in the flashback. If they can recreate it almost perfectly for that, then they can use it for the modern day too. Just have him find it in a store. Easy. No need to overthink it.
You guys are right, as I had forgotten about the Scream mask being used in crimes. I guess since Ben Tramer had a version of one in part II, and the teenagers all had one to scare Meeker and Loomis in part 4, I can see it. I just want it to not feel forced. I’m game for a clean mask, too, but as you all said, it doesn’t look like it is going to happen.
Not only did we get the rotted look, but then to have a gunshot mask too? Not saying they copied RZ but REALLY didn’t see that coming. Then of course for the sequel it is even more scarred up…Total RZ route…Maybe not on purpose but yeah wish we had a clean…It always has to be ‘‘the mask’’ he wore as a kid or in 78…
All i know is those wanting to see the clean mask again even if not for the full film are going to be happy with HK. It looks so good. It was a delight to see it on screen again.
I assume you’re referring to the flashback, but yes any shots of the original on film again will be amazing. Do you know if it is a new sculpt, or if it appears to be a rehauled Shatner like the original? Or is it just a clean sculpt of the mask we got in H18? What was your impression?
See, that hurts. That really hurts. For the first time, maybe ever, they were able to recreate the original mask almost perfectly…and they choose to only use it for a flashback?!
Eventually they will do it, it’s only a matter of time. Half of the Myers masks they have now they said the same thing about. If it isn’t when their initial Halloween Kills lineup comes out, it will be down the line for sure. Just a matter of the copyright, which one would assume is already secured since it’s part of Halloween Kills license, which they obviously already have.
