So, in terms of a status report, to make a long story short, I was making gradual progress practicing my painting, hairing, and finishing prior to covid-19. I had found a hair fiber I liked after ordering around. Had a great base color and consistency for what I was trying to accomplish. Had enough hair for two masks to practice with, then the pandemic broke. Most mohair production and distribution is overseas, and most of those businesses are either closed, or not shipping internationally. So, basically I decided to try and wait it out, because the producer I found had the product that worked best. But, after a couple months, Iāve decided to go back to ordering samples again. Thatās the gist.
So, on to the masks. Below is the first finished prototype in a few comparison shots that I thought were fun. Hope everybody enjoys them.
Next, is the second completed mask. Iām still going back and doing adjustments here and there on it. Hence the Kirk hairstyle. This one is more subtle on the flesh tone than the first.
So, there you have it. This is basically the finished product. I had originally planned for something a bit more grand once I had a completed project, but things just didnāt go as planned. Hopefully I will have some new info for all of you sooner than later.

This mask is really different from any other maskā¦itās got something about itā¦I canāt really put my finger on it, but Iām speechlessā¦the hair you used is simply perfect, judging by the pictures!! I love the paint job as wellā¦not too whiteā¦maybe even leaning a bit towards light greyā¦fantastic!! I surely would love to see some worn shots!!!
Possibly the closest sculpt Iāve seen to the original look. This is a real work of art, your time and patience is evident in the finished product. Just unreal.

This is incredible work and definitely something be interested in as well. Any chance weāll get an unstretched mask one day? So basically a standard Kirk without the built in castle stretch?
