I’m consider rehauling Kirk mask, what should I use to attach hair after I paint them?
Can I use stock hair from Kirk after I paint them black?
use either clear tacky glue or E6000.
You can use the stock hair just cut the old glue pieces off so it looks more like an indy mask.
To add to uwannadon’s post, I’ve had good experience with rubber cement for hair as well. Really take your time with your eyecuts because they kind of make or break the mask- and with the bloat issues (very minor, and the bloat is honestly only REALLY noticeable when comparing them to the Shat) they’re a little trickier than with higher-end kirk molds like a NAG 75K for example. Still, they are really the best bang for the buck you can get and with some TLC, I think you can make them stand up favorably against the pricier indie alternatives.
Tacky glue is super easy to use (although it being white before drying can be confusing), and it washes off in water and has no fumes.
Dries a bit hard though, so rubber cement for the hairline would be my recommendation (or E6000).
When cutting Kirk eyes - cut 'em -small- to start with and test and adjust. Check them against the eyebrows and the nose width/height for proportions. They stretch vertically when the mask is stuffed to look like Nick Castle. You will likely find they seem too far apart on a TOTS Kirk - at least I did. That’s because the top of the nose is lacking detail on the pull and is a little bit puffed out. I’d resist the urge to cut too close into the nose to compensate.
I recommend curved nail scissors, easier to cut at funny angles.
You are so helpful people, every comment is appreciated! ![]()
So once you have your mask painted, what do you do to protect the paint job?

you’ll want to use a spray sealant such as plastidip or variants. Its basically a liquid rubber that flexes with the mask. Its a good idea to seal the mask before you hair it as any excess hair easily blows off the face with air.
This is my second rehaul. Rehaired with crepe this time. Haven’t sat down to actually style the hair yet. I’m pretty happy with it!

I really need to fix the hair (repaint and matte it down), but here’s my repaint. First time doing this and I must say it’s not too bad, well under this specific lighting lol!

Hey guys, just wanted to share my TOTS Kirk conversion… very happy with how it looks ![]()

That conversion looks incredible. That is H1.
Latest H40 overhaul.

A few of mine. From left tots h40, tots 78, mmp nightmare, and of course. my emmett Kelly I found at a yard sale for a dollar

Sorry it’s sideways
Last pic of my H2 Warlock conversion for now before I put this thing somewhere where dust can’t collect on it. Especially around the blood tears. Guess I’ll start looking for some cases again
Mind my poster above, lol. My lava lamp piece provides some grate lighting for pics like these. Definitely will be using it for any other finished works and other scores in the near furture.

Is there anyone currently doing paid rehauls of the TOTS 78? I thought I saw some people posting recommendations last year, but a forum search didn’t turn anything up. I read through this whole master thread but only saw discussion of people doing their own rehauls. I know people have posted a lot of good tips, but I think if I were to try my own rehaul, I’d just mess it up.

I’m doing them
Hello I’m new to the forum and looking for someone to rehaul my H5 tots mask. Message me for additional details.
Here’s my Boogeyman I just finished.

Hi all,
Thought I’d add some pics to this awesome thread of a couple rehauls I completed as a Christmas gift to my brother.
Still have a lot to learn, but these are the first two that I felt somewhat happy with. Ruined quite a few along the way ![]()
First pic is of a TOTs Kirk that I repainted and rehaired. Second is the Krik next to my brother’s Warlock that I repainted and did some hair styling to.
Have another one in the works right now, will post pics once complete.
BTW, loving everyone’s rehauls- very inspiring!
