Congrats to that awesome score! Great story you discoverd it by the way!
woow!! man, that thing has to be directly related to the 75 mold that is far closer to the 75 than any fan made repo. its also cant be a production copy, i had one and it was very large and frankly looked like crap. that thing is insane man, i’d be overjoyed with it no matter what you paid. you scored big bro.
that looks awesome man congrats!
Outstanding looking mask… hopefully the eyeholes will still work – if anything, they will just be a bit closer together; which should still look great… probably will give it a nice pissed off evil look, if cut correctly. Excellent find!
Leave the mask as is, do not have it converted. It is beautiful as a Kirk.
But I really dig this look… if there were a bunch of these guys floating around I would love to put some time into it - filling the eye holes w/ latex, cutting them and doing a full conversion.
Real potential there. Great PS.
YEP it’s a “98” Very nice.
I pretty much go to every Vulcon we have here in Orlando since about 2004. Usually working as a volunteer or a presenter, but I have never seen at any vendor table a Kirk or Spock mask. God knows I have been looking! Prior to that I went to a few Trek conventions in Michigan, and the DC area dating back to about 1996. Again never saw a Kirk or Spock mask anywhere.
Awesome score though. You beat me to Pittsburgh by 2 weeks! :finga:
Sorry dude I lucked into it. The funny thing is about 6 years ago I was in the same store and I bought an issue of Rue Morgue and that issue was about the Halloween movies and the masks from all the movies. How odd is that?
This is a really cool find. I would most certainly keep it as is. I never thought I would see actual pics of this version of the 98 Shatner. So glad you shared it with us!!
My hats off to Don Post for this version, other than the way they did the eyes, I’m very impressed. Makes you wonder why they changed to the larger less accurate 98 they mass produced. Thanks again for the pics!! -ST
Hi just wanted to give you guys an update on what I’ve decided I want to do with this mask. I’ve had 12 offers so far (everything from trades, sells, and both). This really has put me in an awaked position. Yes there are a few masks out there I still want but after talking it over with my wife (we just bought a house two months ago) she made realize we need to put our wants aside in favor of our needs. So with that said I’m wanting to sale it. There have been two people (I’m not giving there names away so don’t ask) who have made the best offers so far (even though I wasn’t taking offers for it). One made me a jaw-dropping money offer. I’m not going to say how generous the offer was but I was taken back by it. After I talked it over with my wife she mentioned to me it would probably be fair to just put it on e-bay. But e-bay’s recent actions towards fans has been a big turn off to me, so I choose not to go that route. I’m a fan just like you guys and I want this mask to go to my fellow mask collectors. You guys are the people who really keep this hobby alive and evolving (I never knew there were so many hardcore Kirk fans here). So here’s the deal if you want to buy this off me, e-mail me your bottom line best $$$ offer, to deadfool777@yahoo.com. Why not my PM box? Cause my box fills up too fast. It’s much easier for me to manage/check my yahoo account. I will be fair; those of you who have done business with me in the past know I’m a very legitimate person. I don’t want to draw this out but at the same time I don’t want to set a deadline either. I will go through all the offers late tonight and by morning I will have made my decision on who gets it. That’s as fair as I can be. Also in the e-mail let me know what your screen name is.
Methods of payment that I take are money orders from the post office (USPS money orders) and Pay Pal, in case you were wondering (No cash in the mail or personal checks). If you live outside of the US we will have to talk about S&H options, but please bring that to my attention when you make an offer. In the US, I use UPS as my shipping method cause I can have some control over the delivery and tracking of what I ship. I always ask for a signature upon delivery so the delivery person just doesn’t leave a box at a doorstep. I really like tracking #’s, they are great for showing customers and sellers where the package is at, when to expect it, and if it gets lost. I do box up everything thing I sale very securely. Don’t worry about it being broken or damaged.
Lastly about the mask, like I said in my first post about it, someone did write on the right side of the neck (don’t ask me why) but it appears that someone tried to wipe it off and all they really did was wiped off the paint and faded the ink. The mask does smell like it has been in a smoker’s house. I’m sorry if that turns you off, but that’s how I found it. I don’t smoke and this thing is pretty strong smelling to me. It really reminds me how MMP masks use to smell like.
Thanks and Good Luck !
For those with the know-how of repairing/restoring masks… is it possible to have the pre-cut eyeholes filled in? …so that it would be able to convert properly to a Myers? That would be a big deciding factor if I were to put in an offer. Just curious…
For sake of $$, if you DID list on eBay, there’s a better probability that you’d get a higher selling price… mostly since you’d have everyone on here, plus outside Myers collectors, & even Trek fans searching as well… but I do understand/respect your wanting to keep it “in-house”.
I would love to make an offer, but from the sounds of “Jaw Dropping” seems like I am out of my league. Would have loved to have gotten it though and had it laser scanned here in Orlando.
Good luck with your sale. Should be a nice chunk of change you get for something this rare.
Awesome find bro. There is no way I would convert it.Thats a gem as is.Cant believe how you found it thats an awesome story you can share for years to come.
It’s a done deal guys. I will list more info at a later date about it all. The winner is someone I respect and I know the 98 will be in good hands. I promise to post more when I have time.
Thanks again for everyone’s support and help.

It is possible to fill the eye holes. Personally, I wouldn’t really want to tackle it b/c of the rarity of the mask and $ involved… but yes someone with tons of experience (Kelly Mann, etc.) could patch it up and blend it nicely. There are a few guys at the HMA that could help in that dept.
Good luck w/ the sale! May the richest man win!
Oh what a site to behold This is probably the closest we will ever get to a 75.’ All I know is that if I ever got my mitts on one of those bad boys it would feel like closure on an obsessive search!

Who ended up with this mask? Just curious. I remember it sold to a member on here, but we never saw it again. It’s a beauty of a mask!
I was wondering that myself…
I’d like to know as well…i wanted to buy it for my collection
