Here’s something to make you feel better: somewhere in the infinite multiverse of which our universe is a member, there is an Earth where John Carpenter’s Halloween had no sequel. Carpenter was able to do his anthology. It’s still wildly successful almost fifty years later. Michael Myers was never seen again. He has a huge fan base nonetheless. Anytime the studio says Myers might come back, the fans protest. Carpenter, still owning some rights, refuses.
The Myers mask has pretty become a Goosebumps Haunted mask. The person puts it on they become Myers.
Corey becomes Myers with the mask and seeks revenge. He literally becomes Myers.
Myers is soft for Corey forwhich why he Michael let’s him borrow the mask.
Real Michael Myers is only in the movie 4 to 5 mins
I love that John is getting paid regardless of these films being awful. He will let all these idiots burn themselves and careers with this crap. His place in history is already in stone no matter what these fools do. John is THE SHAPE……killing careers and grabbing the money!
Fast short story.
Christopher Nelson said the first time he met John of course was in 2018 and he showed him the 2018 mask. Christopher ask him what he thought. John responded “it looks like shit” Christopher was like “ok ty sir” back to his thing.
I’ll go see if Saturday. I’ll come back here and tell y’all what I thought and hope my opinion is somewhat useful. So far I have liked 2018 and I was lukewarm on Kills. I felt Kills had cool moments and it was interesting to make Michael a Carpenter-esque supernatural and obviously the kills. That being said, the pacing of Kills was disjointed with a need of a new editor as the editor they used for kills must have been a.d.d or something as there were too many camera cuts not just for a Halloween movie, but for competent cinematography. Anthony Michael Hall is a great actor and he did well with what he had which leads to my next problem the dialogue. The dialogue could have been done better with more subtlety and less “evil dies tonight” and “40 years ago”. Overall Halloween Kills is very much like a Friday the 13th movie, just watch it for the kills. I’d say worst in the series for me is Resurrection and the Rob Zombie flicks. H20 upon rewatch was boring and monotonous until the last 20 or so minutes, 6 has always been a fun movie for me (both cuts), 5 is a fever dream of a movie, 4 is one of the greats of the series, 3 is okay, 2 is a nice “conclusion”, and the first one is a lesson of how to make a great film.
Call me cuckoo cuchoo, but I have a soft spot for 4’s mask. Best way to describe it is using a rudimentary reference from Family Guy. The way Stewie was terrified of the robot on the Queen News of the World album, how it was sad but still destructive, that’s how I viewed the mask when I was young, so it always had a special place in my membranes.
no shame in that. I feel the same about the Winston mask from h20. I saw that as a kid in theaters and it was the first Myers mask I have a memory of. so I have a huge soft spot for it. seeing movies as an impressionable youth definitely helps make memories of them or parts of them better. page master was a film I watched the hell out of when I was little and I saw it recently and I couldnt make it through the whole thing!
Haha I had the same experience with Hercules in New York, Arnold’s first movie. Although when you mentioned Winston, it made me think with all of these fx artists doing their take on the mask (nicetero, beuchler, Winston, nelson) I’ve always been curious how Tom Savini would handle such a mask. Anyway I’ll stop detailing this thread and as for Ends I really don’t know how I’ll feel, given all the leaks and stuff, I’ll definitely have it in the middle of the ranking unless I find something so egregious that I rank it lower than RZ. One thing and I could be wrong, but the soundtrack from what I heard has been eh, I felt Kills had a great soundtrack, especially Payback and Michael’s Legend.
