Hey all, I recently got a TOTS 78 mask and I’m looking to rehaul it. Are there any good beginners guides or something like that when it comes to repainting? I feel as if I can handle the hair enough but the paintjob is something I could see myself struggling with a lot, any tips or tricks?
There’s a ton of videos on the net. Nick does some Myers mask repainting videos, search Sing With Nick on Google, he comes up right away.
After seeing Tommy Lee Wallace do his recent conversion, struggled to find the paints he used here in the UK, BUT, with some searching, these are the closest 3 I could find, different brands obviously but they work.
Now this was just a quick job, on an old Boogeyman TOTS mask. The problem is, I got so many tiny hairs stuck on the mask, it looks like shit, but it was more of a test to see if the paints would work on latex, and they do. Gonna be doing a much cleaner job on a Kirk that I’ve got from TOTS. I didn’t have a shower cap, lol.

Just ordered a Tots Kirk to have it converted to an H1 or H2, but I can’t decide. Any recommendations?

Made a thread about my latest rehauls, which also happen to be the first masks I’ve owned in many years. But since I haven’t seen any H6s in here, I thought I’d post a quick glimpse here. So much potential in these TOTS masks.

Looking good man! Yeah the TOTS masks are great sculpts, they just need a little cosmetic TLC and they really shine.
The original run TOTS H6 masks actually had film accurate hair, but they stopped using it shortly after that first run back in 2014. Now they use that synthetic fur hair, which is a bummer. But as seen with yours, its easily fixed with a rehaul.
Nice, I always liked the TOTS H2/Lunatic. So much potential for a great H2 in that sculpt.

Absolutely love what Kyky is doing with the 2018s. Did you rehair it or work with the stock hair?
I actually added hair throughout the mask, but I did not take any hair off. Just reworked it a bit!
It’s one of the best I’ve seen. Grungy as heck. Do you bother to remove the paint or do you paint over the stcok paint? I’m prepping a 2018 myself at the moment. The only minor improvement I see on yours is a little trim of the neck. The TOTS necks are about a quarter inch too long. But man, your paint is spot on!
On this mask, I actually did remove the stock paint, but it’s not really necessary. I ended up mixing brown and black and painted the entire mask with that. Then using a mix of cream and pure white, I dry brushed it over the entire mask, letting all the cracks and crevices pop out. If you go on youtube and look up RamenNoodleBudgets, he has a great video explaining this process in his Halloween Kills Concept mask video. But yes, I still need to trim that neck up. Thank you!
